I. Program Darmasiswa RI

Program Darmasiswa RI is an Indonesian Government scholarship program given to foreign student from neighboring countries to learn Indonesian languages and dialects, traditional music, traditional dances, handicrafts in the higher education institutions in Indonesia.

II.  How to Apply for Program Darmasiswa RI

Applicants who wish to join Program Darmasiswa RI should filled up and submit three (3) copies of their application forms to Indonesian Embassy in the respective country.  It is hoped that the documents of successful applicant also authenticated by Department of Foreign Affairs of their respective countries before Indonesian Embassy send it to Jakarta.

III. Qualifications of Participants

To qualify for the Darmasiswa program RI:

1.   The participant should not be more than 35 years of age.

2.   Should have completed Secondary Education or its equivalent.

3.   Should submit the photocopy of transcript.

4.   Should have a basic knowledge in the field of study he/she is applying for.

5.   Should fill up the Application Form provided by the Department of Education and Culture thru the Indonesian Embassy in his/her country residence. (to be accompanied by 3 copies of the applicant’s latest photo).

6.   Should be in good health as attested in the Medical Certificate duly signed by a doctor.

7.   The participant must course his/her application thru the Indonesian Embassy in his/her country of residence.

8.   The participant must submit the latest copy of his/her   3  x  4  and    4  x  6  photo, or a total of 5 copies per size specification.

9.   A photocopy of his/her passport valid for two (2) years.

IV. Length of Stay  

The Darmasiswa Program RI is non-degree program given for a year and cannot be used for research in Indonesia.

V. Terms of Study

School year starts on September every year especially for University of Indonesia, Depok school year starts on middle of August every year.  Before the class start, participant should joint the orientation and Bahasa Indonesia lesson at early August every year.

VI. Deadline of Documents Submission

VII. Prohibitions Regarding Employment and Business
 
The Darmasiswa Program is granted for duration of 1 (one) year for a “ non-degree”
program and the participant is prohibited from working and engaging in business or
any activity for personal profit/gain.
 
In relation to this, the participant is required to fill up and sign a pro-forma note to
this effect.

IX. Monthly/Yearly allowance

 The Embassy wishes to further inform the participants for the Darmasiswa that the Indonesian Government will provide successful applicants with 1 (one) year matriculation fee, a monthly living allowance amounting to Rp. 1,000,000.00 (One Million Rupiah), an annual clothing allowance amounting to Rp. 300,000.00 (Three Hundred Thousand Rupiah).

 

The Bureau of Planning and International Cooperation, Department of National Education will send the aforementioned amount every month to the participant, through the University/College/Department where he/she is enrolled.

 

Pocket Money

 

All participants are advised to bring enough pocket money in preparation for their studies. The release of the allowance from DEPDIKNAS will be delayed for one (1) to two (2) months from the date of their arrival.

XI.  Temporary Resident Visa

 

1.  Temporary Resident Visa is issued for participants of the Darmasiswa

     Program.

2.  The participant is not allowed to use a Tourist Visa for his/her study in

     Indonesia because this may give rise to difficulties in obtaining a Resident

     Permit.

3.  If the participant arrives in Indonesia with a Tourist Visa, he/she will be

    compelled to leave Indonesia first to be able to convert his/her Tourist Visa

    and obtain a Resident Permit.

XIII. PROGRAM DARMASISWA RI PLUS

 

PROGRAM DARMASISWA RI PLUS is an Indonesian Government scholarship program given to foreign student from neighboring countries to learn Indonesian languages and dialects, traditional music, traditional dances, handicrafts in the higher education institutions in Indonesia, which the participants are required to teach foreign languages to the appointed secondary school.

 

The requirements of application of the PROGRAM DARMASISWA RI PLUS are the same with PROGRAM DARMASISWA RI except:

 

a.  The foreign student is oblige to teach one of the foreign languages which

     are English, German, French, Japanese and Mandarin in the appointed

     secondary school for ten (10) hours/week and form a language club.

b.  The allowance is Rp 1,000,000.00 per month.

c.  The accommodation will be provided by the appointed secondary school.

d.  The location of the schools are in Medan City, Bukit Tinggi, Padang,

     Palembang, Jakarta, Bogor, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surakarta,

     Surabaya, Malang, Denpasar, Mataram and Makassar.
